Premier League clubs show support for World Alzheimer's Day

World Alzheimer's Day

Top-flight clubs are providing a helping hand to those affected by the disease

The Premier League and its clubs celebrated World Alzheimer's Day on Thursday 21 September, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to raise awareness around, and encourage support of dementia.

Here, we will share some of the ways in which clubs showcased the work that they continue to do within their local communities.

Manchester City's charitable arm, City in the Community, highlighted the work of their staff and participants at ReminisCITY, which helps individuals with a diagnosis of dementia.

Around 40 staff from Fulham will walk from Craven Cottage to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of their match with Spurs next month to raise money for Fulham Foundation’s Memories programme.

In a special video Cottagers midfielder, and club captain, Tom Cairney encouraged supporters to donate to the programme and thanked those taking part in the walk.

Over 3,000 participants have experienced the facilities at Newcastle United's Memory Cafe, the region's biggest football drop-in session for those living with life-changing illnesses such as dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

Newcastle celebrated this fantastic milestone by proudly sharing the news on social media.

Aston Villa Foundation amplified the work being done in their Dementia Cafe, which allows those living with the condition to engage in physical/mental activities over tea and coffee at Aston Villa's Villa Park stadium.

Tommy Dunne and Raymond, supporters of Everton and Chelsea respectively, are featured in a special Alzheimer’s Society photography exhibition in partnership with The Football Association (FA), situated by Wembley Stadium.

Both clubs spoke of their pride at Tommy and Raymond's contribution on social media.
