Brentford have completed the signing of goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool.
The 26-year-old joins the Bees on a five-year deal and will replace Mark Flekken as No 1 following the latter's move to Bayer Leverkusen, which was announced on the same day.
"I’m buzzing, I’m really happy to be here," Kelleher told Brentford’s official website.
"I don’t think it was very difficult for me to leave [Liverpool]. I felt for my own career that the time was right for me to go, to be a No 1 and to play every week.
"I heard of some interest a number of weeks ago. Once I knew Brentford were in for me, it was definitely one I was really excited about and wanted to do as quickly as possible."
Who is Caoimhin Kelleher?
Born in Cork, Ireland on 23 November 1998, Kelleher joined Liverpool from Ringmahon Rangers in the summer of 2015.
After four years of development, he made his senior debut in 2019, keeping a clean sheet in a 2-0 EFL Cup win over MK Dons.
The Republic of Ireland international went on to play 67 times for the Reds. He boasts the highest win rate of any Liverpool goalkeeper to make 50+ appearances in all competitions, with 65.7 per cent, ahead of Alisson on 65.4 per cent.
Kelleher turned in a standout performance in the 2021/22 EFL Cup final against Chelsea, where he made key saves and scored the decisive penalty in an 11-10 shootout victory at Wembley Stadium.
That same season, he earned an FA Cup winner’s medal, featuring in eight matches.
In the 2024/25 season, he stepped in again for the injured Alisson, keeping four clean sheets and saving one penalty in 10 Premier League matches.
Kelleher also impressed in the UEFA Champions League, keeping three clean sheets in four matches, including a vital penalty stop to deny Kylian Mbappe in a 2-0 win over Real Madrid.
On the international stage, Kelleher has earned 22 caps since his debut in 2021.
