Brentford have confirmed the appointment of Keith Andrews as their new head coach, following Thomas Frank’s departure to take charge at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 44-year-old Irishman, who joined Brentford's coaching staff last summer as a set-piece coach, has been promoted internally in similar fashion to what the club had been doing in the recent years.
His predecessor Frank was promoted to the top job in 2018 after two years as assistant head coach under Dean Smith.
Who is Keith Andrews?
Prior to joining Brentford, Andrews held roles as an assistant at MK Dons and with the Republic of Ireland’s senior and Under-21 teams.
Andrews also worked under Chris Wilder at Sheffield United for seven months before making the move to west London in July 2024.
A former midfielder, he enjoyed a 16-year playing career that began at Wolverhampton Wanderers and included spells at Hull City, MK Dons, Blackburn Rovers, West Bromwich Albion, and Bolton Wanderers, as well as several loan stints across the English Football League (EFL).
Andrews earned 35 caps for the Republic of Ireland between 2008 and 2012 and featured in the squad at UEFA Euro 2012.
When will Andrews take charge of his first match?
Andrews is set to take charge of his first match as Brentford head coach on 2 August against Queens Park Rangers in pre-season.
Brentford begin their Premier League campaign away to Nottingham Forest on 17 August.
