Promoted club Burnley have boosted their defensive ranks by signing Quilindschy Hartman from Eredivisie side Feyenoord, while Axel Tuanzebe will join the Clarets upon expiry of his contract at Ipswich Town on 1 July.

Left-back Hartman was the first to pen a deal, agreeing a four-year contract at Turf Moor, followed a matter of hours later by centre-half Tuanzebe, who became Burnley's third signing in two days, with goalkeeper Max Weiss arriving on 25 June.

“From the first moment I spoke to the coach [Scott Parker], I was really excited and impressed and I would say he was the biggest influence in me coming here,” 23-year-old Hartman said on Burnley's official website.

For former Manchester United and Aston Villa defender Tuanzebe, it is an immediate return to the Premier League, having made 22 appearances for Ipswich last season.

“It became a very simple decision after speaking to the manager and the message was very clear, precise and straight to the point," Tuanzebe said on Burnley's official website.

“It’s a new chapter for me, back in the vicinity of Manchester and home and I’m ready to continue my journey now at Burnley.”

Hartman's career so far

Hartman joined Feyenoord's academy in 2010 before progressing through the ranks and then making his senior debut in August 2022 under current Liverpool head coach Arne Slot.

He had a huge impact that season as he played 30 times and helped Feyenoord win the Eredivise title for the first time in six years.

Hartman has been capped four times by the Dutch national team and has scored once, a goal against France in a UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying match.

Tuanzebe's career so far

Tuanzebe was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo but relocated to England as a child, joining Man Utd's academy at the age of eight.

He progressed through the ranks, making his senior debut in 2017 and going on to become the club's youngest captain in over 30 years in an EFL Cup tie in 2019.

Following two loans spells at Aston Villa, where he played a part in their promotion to the Premier League in 2018/19, he signed a new contract at Old Trafford before returning for a third loan spell at Villa Park, and then Napoli.

After a further stint on loan at Stoke City in 2022/23, Tuanzebe signed for Ipswich on a permanent deal, where he helped the Tractor Boys win promotion to the top flight in 2023/24.

When could Hartman and Tuanzebe play for Burnley?

Hartman and Tuanzebe could make their first appearance for Burnley on 26 July in the club's opening pre-season match against Huddersfield Town.

Following their promotion to the Premier League, the Clarets begin their 2025/26 Premier League season away to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday 16 August.
